Candice + Jon - A Sunset Engagement Session at Whiskey Island Marina & Edgewater Park

Some engagement sessions just unfold naturally, and Candice and Jon’s was one of those evenings.

We first met at the Great Lakes Brewery Tasting Room Open House, and from the beginning it was easy to see how comfortable they are together. They’re the kind of couple who doesn’t need much direction—they laugh easily, steal little glances at one another, and make every quiet moment feel genuine.

We began their engagement session exploring Whiskey Island Marina, taking advantage of the clean architectural lines, the waterfront, and the Cleveland skyline. The combination of modern buildings and the harbor created a timeless backdrop while giving us plenty of opportunities for both intimate portraits and wide environmental images.

As the evening went on, we made our way to Edgewater Park, just in time for golden hour. The soft light filtering through the willow trees created one of those perfect summer evenings photographers hope for. We wandered along the shoreline, letting the sunset unfold naturally before finishing with dramatic silhouettes as the sun disappeared over Lake Erie.

One of my favorite things about this session wasn’t just the locations—it was how effortless Candice and Jon were together. Their affection never felt forced, and every photograph became less about posing and more about simply documenting who they are together.
