Sometimes, the most beautiful wedding days are the ones that don’t go exactly as planned. Shelby and Ryan’s wedding at Basil Place in Chardon, Ohio, was the perfect example. Despite rain in the forecast, their celebration was filled with beautiful moments, incredible scenery, and a sunset that made the entire day unforgettable.
Nestled in the countryside of Chardon, Ohio, Basil Place is a stunning wedding venue that offers a beautiful blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. From its picturesque outdoor spaces to its thoughtfully designed interiors, it’s a dream location for wedding photography.
With unpredictable weather throughout the day, having a venue with so many beautiful indoor photo opportunities made all the difference.
The team at Annie Rose Events, led by Denise Rosby, did a fantastic job coordinating the day and making sure everything ran smoothly. Even with a few adjustments to the original plans, the entire celebration felt effortless.
Rain on your wedding day doesn’t have to mean sacrificing beautiful photographs, and Shelby and Ryan’s wedding was proof of that!
Throughout the day, we took advantage of breaks in the rain to step outside for portraits. When the weather wasn’t cooperating, we embraced the gorgeous indoor spaces at Basil Place. The venue offers so much variety, allowing us to create beautiful, timeless images regardless of what was happening outside.
With the rain continuing to make an appearance, the decision was made to hold the ceremony inside the reception space. Thanks to the incredible coordination team, everything came together beautifully, creating an intimate and romantic setting for Shelby and Ryan to exchange their vows.
As if on cue, shortly after the ceremony, the sun finally made an appearance!
We headed outdoors to capture portraits of Shelby and Ryan, along with their wedding party, surrounded by the beautiful grounds of Basil Place. After spending much of the day watching the weather, having that opportunity to photograph everyone outside was such a treat.
But the best was still to come.
Shortly after dinner, we noticed the sky beginning to transform. What had started as a rainy, overcast day was turning into one of the most gorgeous sunsets.
We stepped outside with Shelby and Ryan for one more round of portraits, and the light was absolutely incredible. The warm glow of the setting sun created the perfect backdrop for some of my favorite images from their wedding day.
It was one of those moments that reminded me why I love wedding photography so much. You can plan every detail of a wedding, but sometimes nature surprises you with something even better.
Shelby and Ryan’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that a little rain doesn’t take away from the magic of a wedding day. Sometimes, it makes the story that much more memorable.
A beautiful celebration like this comes together with the help of talented wedding professionals.
