Sara + Josh | A Rainy Wedding Day at 159 Events on Main in Akron, Ohio
Some wedding days go exactly according to plan. Others remind us that the best moments often come when we embrace the unexpected.
Sara and Josh’s wedding day at 159 Events on Main in Akron was one of those days.
From the moment the day began, rain fell steadily across Northeast Ohio. The rain lingered from morning until evening, changing what many couples might envision for their wedding portraits.
Yet if there was one thing that made this day special, it was the complete trust Sara and Josh placed in the process.
Rather than worrying about what the weather was taking away, they focused on what truly mattered—celebrating the beginning of their marriage surrounded by the people they love most.
And because of that trust, we were able to create some truly incredible imagery inside the historic walls of 159 Events on Main.
Finding Beauty Indoors
One of the many reasons I love photographing weddings at 159 Events on Main is the character of the venue itself.
The historic architecture, elegant details, beautiful natural light, and timeless interiors provided the perfect backdrop for portraits throughout the day. Instead of fighting against the weather, we leaned into the atmosphere and used the venue’s unique spaces to create photographs that felt romantic, cinematic, and authentic to the day.
Sometimes the best wedding images aren’t the ones you planned for—they’re the ones you discover when you’re willing to adapt.
A Celebration Full of Personality
What made Sara and Josh’s wedding unforgettable wasn’t just the venue or the weather.
It was them.
From the very beginning, these two embraced who they are. They’re playful, a little dorky in the best possible way, and completely unapologetic about the things they love.
Their shared interests in Dungeons & Dragons, Pokémon cards, gaming culture, and all things nerdy found their way into the celebration through thoughtful personal touches that reflected their story.
It wasn’t trendy.
It wasn’t forced.
It was authentically them.
As a wedding photographer, those personal details are always my favorite. They transform a wedding from simply beautiful into something deeply meaningful and uniquely memorable.
Throughout the day, Sara and Josh brought so much laughter and joy to every moment. Whether they were sharing an inside joke, geeking out over a detail they had incorporated into the wedding, or simply enjoying each other’s company, their personalities shined through constantly.
Their energy was contagious.
Trust Creates Magic
One of the biggest lessons from this wedding is something I often tell couples: trust matters.
Weather changes.
Timelines shift.
Unexpected things happen.
But when couples trust the people they’ve hired and stay focused on each other, incredible things happen.
Sara and Josh did exactly that.
Despite the rain, despite the changes in plans, they stayed present, relaxed, and fully invested in enjoying their wedding day. Because of that, we were able to create photographs that tell the story of who they are—not just what the weather looked like.
Congratulations, Sara + Josh
Thank you both for allowing me to be part of such an incredible celebration.
Your kindness, humor, and willingness to embrace every moment made this wedding an absolute joy to photograph.
Rain may have been part of the story, but it certainly didn’t define the day.
Your love, your laughter, and your wonderfully nerdy personalities did.
And honestly, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
